There is no way around it. Revit is all about your ability to “see” how your buildings or other structure will change over time. If you don’t want to pay for a Revit program, that’s okay. There are several free options out there for those looking for a self-guided experience.

If you’re a developer, you’ll use Revit. If you’re not a developer, you’ll use Revit. But if you’re a developer, you can build your own custom engine. Of course, once you’ve learned the basics of Revit, you can go ahead and use it. So if you’re not a developer, you’ll be using Revit, but if you want to start building a custom engine, you can.

Revit is great. But it has some limitations. For example, you can’t build anything that requires 3D modeling. But hey, don’t worry. There are lots of cool things you can do with Revit that you can’t even begin to imagine with a custom engine.
