This is the first time I’ve ever used helium, which is a very interesting, rare element. Helium is an inert, non-radioactive gas, meaning that it is not radioactive and, in fact, it contains no energy. The only way we can extract helium is through a process called ionization. We use a small needle to pump helium into a larger plastic bag, which releases helium into the atmosphere. Once released, the helium is trapped.
A few times this year, I’ve looked into helium as a way to create a kind of radiation. The helium particles in the air are not radioactive, so it’s not just a lot of radiation. We use helium gas as a gas for the things we do. We use our own helium gas generator to make helium tanks. I’ve had a couple of people tell me that helium is “cooler than water” and they’re probably right.
The problem is that most of the helium in the atmosphere is not used for space. Instead, it is used for rocketry and transportation. The thing about helium is that it is a very common element in the atmosphere, but because of its abundance, it is quickly disappearing. The best way to get some helium is through a chemical process called helium fusion. This is an expensive process that yields a mixture of helium and a gas called hydrogen. This process is extremely expensive, but it can be pretty cool if you know what you’re doing. In the video below you can see how you can get your hands on some helium and see a test flight of a rocket engine. It’s not the most exciting thing ever, but it’s pretty cool to see.
This is just one of the processes that you can use to get helium. There are other ways, but helium fusion is the most efficient method. As it turns out, helium can be extracted from natural gas. But you must have high-pressure natural gas pipelines and valves to get helium. That means you have to drill a well where you can get helium. That makes the process very expensive, but since it’s still pretty cool, I’d like to see it happen.
A lot of people don’t realize that gas companies pay to run wells, so they don’t put that on their invoices. This can sometimes be as much as hundreds of thousands of dollars. So how much helium does it take to get a well to pay for itself? I went with the low end estimate of 20,000 bbl. to illustrate how much of a big deal this is.
The helium is almost certainly better than the helium you get from a well, but it still won’t work, so we must spend the extra money to get it out of the well.
